Somali Localization Lab Launch Event Report

Documenting the launch of the Somali Localization Lab

The Somali Localization Lab (SLL) was officially launched on 16 February 2026 at Lana Business Park in Mogadishu, bringing together Somali civil society organizations, government representatives, international partners, and private sector actors to reflect on the future of locally led humanitarian and development action in Somalia.

Convened by Nexus Consortium Somalia, with co conveners AADSOM, ARIN, and HAVOYOCO, the Lab forms part of the NEAR Network’s Local Leadership Labs initiative. The platform is designed to strengthen the collective voice of Somali civil society, promote more equitable partnerships, and create space for dialogue and collaboration to address structural barriers affecting localization.

The event marked an important milestone for Somalia’s localization agenda. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between national and international actors, improving access to financing for local organizations, and advancing practical reforms that place Somali leadership at the centre of humanitarian and development systems.

To document the discussions, insights, and commitments that emerged from the launch, the Somali Localization Lab Launch Event Report has now been published.
