NEXUS Consortium Somalia’s strategic direction is grounded in the belief that lasting impact begins with local leadership. Our approach redefines how aid is delivered—shifting from fragmented, externally driven models to integrated, Somali-led responses that reflect community priorities and long-term national aspirations.
We focus on the intersection of humanitarian response, sustainable development, and peacebuilding through a localized triple nexus model. This is complemented by our investment in institutional strengthening and our commitment to influencing policies and practices at both national and global levels. Each of our three strategic pillars is designed to reinforce the others, creating a coherent framework for delivering principled, scalable, and contextually relevant change across Somalia and Somaliland.
We deliver integrated programming through Somali-led models that align emergency response, development, and peacebuilding to meet needs and build long-term resilience.
We promote Somali-driven research, amplify local voices, and influence aid architecture by shaping national policies and engaging in global decision-making spaces.
We strengthen Somali NGOs and local government agencies by enhancing systems, promoting accountability, and investing in institutional development, and shared learning.

NEXUS is a Somali-led platform of eight national NGOs working across all regions of Somalia and Somaliland. We deliver integrated humanitarian, development, and peace programs while advancing systems change and local ownership in aid delivery.
The triple nexus refers to the integration of humanitarian assistance, development programs, and peacebuilding initiatives. At NEXUS, we apply this approach locally to address both immediate needs and long-term stability.
NEXUS is governed through a participatory structure that includes a Steering Committee, Secretariat, Project Management Committee, and accountability frameworks shared by all core members. International partners also provide support roles.
The consortium consists of eight Somali NGOs: CPD, GREDO, HAVOYOCO, KAALO, SSWC, SADO, TASCO, and WASDA. These organizations bring decades of experience, regional reach, and technical expertise.
NEXUS collaborates with international partners like Oxfam, Save the Children, SDC, and the Dutch Relief Alliance. These partnerships support funding, learning, compliance, and strategic coordination—guided by localization principles.
Yes. While NEXUS currently includes eight core members, it has a phased model to support emerging Somali organizations. Those meeting predefined standards may be considered for inclusion and capacity strengthening.
